How long does the treatment take?

Fotona 4D is quick and simple. One basic Fotona 4D treatment will take approximately 30 – 45 mins depending on individual situations. Some Fotona treatments can last up to 1.5 hours as we customise this treatment depending on clients needs, making this 4D into 5D or 6D treatments. It is important to do a consultation before any Fotona treatments for a customised plan.

Is this treatment safe?

This treatment is very safe and effective for our skins. It works on all Fitzpatrick skin types. The treatment has no downtime and some clients only receive mild pinkness around cheeks that last for 30 minutes maximum.

Does this treatment hurt?

This treatment might have some warmth in certain areas on our faces but most patients do not report any pain or discomfort during treatment. After the treatment is done, clients usually feel warm on their face for 10 minutes maximum.

How many sessions and how often will I need?

Fotona 4D is a layering treatment, which means clients need 3-5 sessions for maximum results. With one session, clients can see a difference, but for tighter skin and longer lasting results, we always recommend more sessions. When you require 3-5 sessions, it will be spaced out with one session per month. During this journey, clients are recommended to use facial masks to keep skin hydrated.

Which areas are included in the Fotona 4D treatment?

The 4D treatment areas vary depend on your areas of concern. Our laser technician will give you a consultation and depending on your budget, it can be done on face and neck. Fotona can also do eyes but it is called SMOOTH EYES treatment. It is excluded from the 4D but can be added on upon discussion with your technician. Fotona TIGHTSCULPTING is another treatment that can be added onto the 4D, it is commonly called "fat melting" to help clients with double chins and loose jowls due to fat cells on face, causing faces to sag.

What is the price range like in Sydney?

Fotona 4D prices in Sydney range around $500-$880 per session depending on which areas you choose. For SMOOTH EYES, it is usually $400-$600 per session and for TIGHTSCULPTING, it will be roughly $600. If you are doing a Fotona session with all of the areas added on, discounts usually apply. What is the difference between Fotona 4D and Thermage?

Both Fotona 4D and Thermage are effective skin tightening treatments, but they use different technologies. Fotona 4D uses laser energy delivered in four distinct modes to address multiple layers of the skin and oral mucosa. Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat deeper tissue layers. Fotona 4D is often preferred for its versatility and the unique intraoral treatment component, while Thermage is known for single-session results. Many patients benefit from combining both treatments—we can discuss the best approach during your consultation.

What are the four modes in Fotona 4D?

Fotona 4D consists of four synergistic treatment modes: SmoothLiftin (intraoral treatment that heats tissue from inside the mouth for nasolabial fold tightening), FRAC3 (targets deeper imperfections and stimulates collagen), PIANO (bulk heating for skin tightening with a brushing technique), and SupErficial (light ablation for a fresh, refined appearance). What age is best for Fotona 4D treatment?

Fotona 4D is effective for adults from their late 20s onwards. Patients in their 30s-40s often use it preventatively to address early signs of ageing, while those in their 50s-60s appreciate its ability to tighten and rejuvenate without surgery. The treatment can be customised to suit different ages and concerns. During your consultation, we'll assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment approach.

Can Fotona 4D help with nasolabial folds and smile lines?

Yes, Fotona 4D is particularly effective for nasolabial folds (smile lines). The unique SmoothLiftin component treats these lines from inside the mouth, heating the tissue to stimulate collagen production and tighten the area. This intraoral approach allows treatment of lines that are difficult to address from the skin surface alone. Many patients notice visible improvement in the depth and appearance of their nasolabial folds.

Is there any downtime after Fotona 4D?

Fotona 4D has minimal to no downtime. Most patients experience only mild pinkness that subsides within 30 minutes to a few hours. You can return to normal activities immediately after treatment, including applying makeup if desired. This makes it an excellent 'lunchtime treatment' for those with busy schedules.

How long do Fotona 4D results last?

Results from Fotona 4D typically last 6-12 months after completing a full treatment course. The collagen stimulation provides progressive improvement over 2-3 months following treatment. Since natural ageing continues, maintenance sessions every 6-12 months help sustain optimal results. Individual results vary based on age, skin condition, and lifestyle factors.

Can Fotona treat eye wrinkles and crow's feet?

Yes, through the Fotona SmoothEye treatment. This specialised protocol targets periorbital wrinkles, crow's feet, and under-eye concerns using gentle laser energy safe for the delicate eye area. Who should not have Fotona 4D treatment?
