Introduction
What is Picosure?
99 Medispa is proud to provide Picosure laser treatments, one of the best and most advanced laser treatments available today. Picosure is the world's first and only picosecond aesthetic laser. This unique technology is able to treatment a number of skin conditions including pigmentation, sun spots, acne scarring, birth marks and other forms of discolouration on the skin. The extends to tattoo removal as well. The energy from the laser is also capable of stimulating skin rejuvenation and revitalisation by toning, wrinkle reduction and pore size minimisation.

How does it work?
Under the hood, the Picosure laser is light years ahead of the competition. The machine operates by creating a photomechanical impact in one-trillionth of a second at wavelengths of 532nm, 755nm and 1064nm. These are the ideal wavelengths for treating skin pigment conditions. The laser can further be customised by adjusting the spot-size from 2-6mm, 8mm to 10mm, or by adding a focus lens array. This means the treatment can be tailored to your unique skin type and requirements.
What to expect during a treatment
A typical Picosure treatment typically involves having the patient lie down while wearing a protective eye shield. The Picosure laser will then be applied to the respective treatment area. To minimise discomfort, a Zimmer cooling unit will supplement the treatment by blowing cool air while operating the laser. Once the treatment is complete, a cooling mask will be applied to help soothe the skin.
Treatment Types
Pigmentation removal
Picosure is able to treat dark pigments on the skin by shattering them into tiny particles. Once broken down, the body's immune system will naturally cleanse and remove the shattered pigments, returning the skin to its uniform colour. This treatment can be performed on sun spots, age spots and even birthmarks across the face, neck, hands and chest.
Anti-Aging, Wrinkles and Pores
The energy from the Picosure laser is able to stimulate new collagen and elastic production. These are essential for reducing the unwanted signs of aging such as wrinkles and saggy skin. Additionally it can help reduce the size of large pores across the skin and body, resulting a smooth consistent skin complexion.
Acne Scarring
A popular use case for Picosure is treating acne scars. In this scenario, Picosure can be utilised as a non-ablative laser, to help significantly improve signs of acne scarring across the face and body. The non-ablative nature of the treatment means that the skin surface won't be damaged and there will be minimal downtime.
Tattoo Removal
Tattoo ink is just another form of pigment that Picosure is capable of removing from the skin. The different wavelengths available mean Picosure is suitable for treating a number of different tattoo ink colours such as red, yellow, green or black. By selecting the most appropriate wavelength for a colour type, it is possible to fast-track the tattoo removal process and see visible results in fewer sessions.
